Viral video of "Captured US pilot" in Iran sparks controversy

ALBAWABA - Concerns about the dissemination of false information at times of increased regional tension have been raised after a widely circulated video purporting to depict the detention of an American pilot in Iran was found to be unrelated to current affairs.

Social media users instantly linked the video, which depicts a guy in a flight suit raising his hands in what seems to be surrender, to tales of an American fighter plane being shot down within Iran.

False Allegations
