Viral video: Artemis II astronaut captures Moon with iPhone

ALBAWABA - In a new viral video, Artemis II astronaut Reid Wiseman shared rare footage of the Moon captured on his iPhone.  

The NASA astronaut wrote, "Only one chance in this lifetime… Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as 
@Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him."

Wiseman added that his iPhone was the perfect size to capture the stunning view because it was difficult to see the only natural satellite from the docking hatch window. The viral video garnered over 6.5 million views and more than 130,000 likes on X (formerly Twitter).

Moreover, the video received widespread praise from social media users who said it offered more "raw" footage than other clips shot with professional cameras. 

A social media user wrote on X, "Thank you for grabbing your phone and sharing this raw. Makes it feel so much more real than the pro camera shots. What a time to be alive." 

Another added, "Quite possibly the most incredible video ever captured by a phone. Bravo."

While NASA's Artemis II didn't land on the moon, the 10-day mission's main goal was to showcase the Orion spacecraft's ability to safely transport and return the crew on board from a deep space journey.
