Prince and Princess of Wales pay tribute to 'a special summer' days after Meghan offers glimpse into family holiday

The Prince and Princess of Wales today shared a carefully assembled Instagram carousel looking back at their summer highlights, posting 20 photographs and videos under the title "summer rewind".

The collection blends official royal engagements with more personal family snapshots, offering followers a true glimpse into the family's recent months.

Accompanying the post was a warm message of gratitude: "Thank you to everyone who has made the last few months so special!"

The collection began with a photo of the couple at a Buckingham Palace garden party they hosted in May, followed by William sitting inside a Formula E car during his trip to Jaguar TCS Racing's base in Kidlington, Oxfordshire, in April.

A particularly charming family portrait, originally released in April to celebrate the couple's 15th wedding anniversary, also featured.

Shot by photographer Matt Porteous, it captures William, Catherine and their three children — Prince George, 13, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8 — lying together on the grass, joined by their English Cocker spaniels Otto and Orla.

A video clip showed William in conversation with Sir David Attenborough at the broadcaster's centenary celebration.

Speaking at a special concert held at the Royal Albert Hall in May, the prince remarked: "It is a rare privilege to celebrate a century of life. But it is rarer still when that person has transformed the way we see the only home that we have — planet Earth."

Catherine's landmark trip to Reggio Emilia in May - her first international engagements since her cancer diagnosis and recovery - was also poignantly noted, with the princess captured chatting with children and trying her hand at fresh pasta-making.

William's hilarious radio appearance with Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston on Heart FM was also remembered, as was each child's latest birthday portrait, with George pictured in a sharp navy suit, Charlotte in a striped jumper, and Louis posing against a coastal backdrop.

Emma Watson and Benedict Cumberbatch also featured when they joined William on stage at the Royal Foundation's United for Wildlife initiative.

Among the standout images was a photograph of William and Catherine at Royal Ascot, with the Princess resplendent in a canary yellow dress and matching hat, while her husband sported a complementary yellow flower on his lapel for the annual five-day racing fixture.

Catherine's remarkable Three Peaks Challenge also earned a place in the carousel.

In June, the princess conquered Britain's three highest mountains within 24 hours, raising funds for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity - a cause close to her heart as she remains in remission from the disease.

Her Wimbledon appearance earlier this month aptly bookended the heartwarming tribute, highlighting the moment she presented the trophy to champion Linda Nosková.

The post arrived less than a week after the Duchess of Sussex shared her own summer photo collection on Instagram, offering a rare look at her family's European holiday.

Meghan's "Summer Holiday" carousel struck a more casual tone, featuring moments from their luxurious beach holiday in Portugal and their trip to the UK with Prince Harry and their two children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5.
