‘Mandy Burnham’ embraces Andy Burnham lookalike fame as she shares own vision for the country

Mandy Burnham, otherwise known as Quaker chaplain Emma Roberts, has embraced becoming an overnight internet sensation because of her uncanny resemblance to Andy Burnham.

Speaking to GB News, the Swansea native took the opportunity to outline her own vision for the country if she was in the Prime Minister’s shoes.

Ms Roberts shot to viral fame after TikTok users flooded the comments of her videos claiming she looked remarkably like the new No10 occupant.

The chaplain revealed the comparison had never arisen in real life until she launched her Quakerology channel on the popular social media network.

“I've spent two years building a Quakerology channel... looking at people's spiritual lives and faith journeys,” she explained.

“Then I started TikTok, and people weren't listening – they were just saying, 'You look like Andy Burnham.'"

Rather than shy away from the joke, Ms Roberts changed her TikTok name to “Mandy Burnham” and has since embraced the online nickname.

“I couldn't get a word in edgewise with all of these comments… So you've got to lean in with it, haven't you?”

"I've just been on the phone to my mother and my sister, and I said to them, 'Look, everybody is saying that I'm Mandy Burnham because I look so much like him.' And there you go. I'm just leaning into it," she said.

Reflecting on what made the comparisons so stark, Ms Roberts said her glasses and “when the eyebrows come into it people can see the likeness”.

“I guess the hair also looks a bit Burnham-esque. I have always had short hair; I think I'm a little bit greyer than him though.”

The chaplain jokingly suggested she could now stand in for the Prime Minister in future, provided she sports a “round neck T-shirt and a blazer”.

To that end, Ms Roberts put forward her own five-point plan for Britain if she was in the place of her doppelganger.

“Maintain our borders firmly and fairly. It's just common sense. Nothing too stringent. Just normal stuff,” she began.

“Build community cohesion because I think that's really, really important. There are three things that I've named: pubs, sport and churches. And obviously I mean my thing is I still think church has a place in community cohesion in Britain,

“Protect women and children. I mean, that goes without saying, doesn't it? That's just obvious.”

She stressed the need for the “chronically disabled” to receive full support but added there was also a necessity to crack down on some benefits and “make work pay”.

Finally, in a policy sure to please Mr Burnham, Ms Roberts called for “Double Dragon Ale, Yorkshire crisps and Joe's Ice Cream” to be served in “every venue across the country.”

She also jokingly invited the Prime Minister round for a cup of tea in a bid to rectify his now infamously derided method of adding the milk before the boiling water.

“I'm going to make him a cup of tea, because it's shocking the kind of standards that he's accepting in terms of softening the teabag in milk. That is just awful,” Ms Roberts quipped.
