Horror as passenger dies after ‘getting out of broken down car’ on major UK motorway
A man has died after he was hit by a car while getting out of his broken down vehicle on a motorway, it has been reported. Police were called to reports of a collision on the A1(M) near Stevenage at around 1.20am on Saturday. Paramedics worked to save the man but the pedestrian, described as in his 30s, died at the scene. Hertfordshire Police said the victim is believed to have been getting out of a broken-down Honda Civic on May 9. The car had come to a stop on a grass verge near the slip road shortly before the fatal incident. The drivers of both vehicles involved in the crash stayed at the scene to help Hertfordshire Police with its investigation. Investigators are now calling for anyone with information about the incident to contact it via its website or anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers. Detective Sergeant Ben Heath, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Firstly, my thoughts go out to the man’s loved ones at this sad time. “We are appealing for witnesses, information and dash cam footage as we work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision. “At this stage, we believe the man may have been exiting a broken-down silver Honda Civic that was stationary on the grass verge near to the slip road. “If you were travelling in the area at the time and recall seeing the vehicle, or if you have any information that you think may assist with our enquiries, please get in touch.”المصدر: Mirror | Source: Mirror
