Andrew Cornish, 60, was dismissed as chief executive of Middlesex County Cricket Club last month after a seven-month investigation upheld a complaint of 'engaging in unwanted physical contact with a female employee'. The alleged incident took place at a boozy work night out last November near the world-famous cricket ground where Middlesex are based. The club referred the complaint to the Cricket Regulator, the independent body which investigates disciplinary cases across the sport, and Cornish was placed on a leave of absence. During the inquiries, three other female colleagues came forward with complaints about alleged inappropriate comments made by Cornish.  He declined to comment last night, but he has previously denied any wrongdoing and the MoS understands he is seeking legal advice on whether to sue for unfair dismissal. Middlesex confirmed only that Cornish 'was dismissed from his role as chief executive of the club in June'. The Cricket Regulator said it does not confirm the subjects of ongoing investigations. The club has endured a turbulent few years, including a suspended points deduction and £150,000 fine in 2023 for breaching financial regulations, and a six-figure pensions error that followed a Covid-era funding crisis.  A separate misconduct charge brought against another senior employee in 2024 was not upheld.
