Two Australian women charged after disturbing footage captured alleged racial attack against three Chinese students: 'I have nightmares'

By KARLEIGH SMITH - SENIOR REPORTER, AUSTRALIA Published: 00:49, 2 August 2026 | Updated: 00:49, 2 August 2026 Two Australian women have been charged after disturbing footage captured an alleged racial attack against three male Chinese students.  The 26-year-old and 33-year-old women were involved in an alleged altercation with the trio at Central Station, in Sydney, in the early hours of the morning on July 25. In the video, one of the women could be heard yelling profanities before she allegedly shoved one of the men. 'You wanna f***ing say that c***? In Australia? … You will never be let back in our country. Lenny Tai, 29, Minghao Zhan, 20, and another friend had been waiting for a ride-share trip home when the women allegedly began taunting them from the opposite side of the road.  Tai alleged he was grabbed by the neck, choked and scratched on the face by the two women.  He told the Sydney Morning Herald he has been afraid to leave his home in the week since the attack. 'I have nightmares every night, even last night,' he said. The late-night altercation near Sydney's Central Station was partly filmed  The two women have been charged with common assault and using offensive language 'We couldn’t sleep well, I can’t eat, it’s painful for me to recall that night.  'I live very close to where it happened. I don’t feel safe.' Zhan said the incident highlighted the public safety concerns for international students living in Sydney. 'I feel really scared,' he said.  'I think it’s not just Chinese students… These people hate Asians.' A NSW Police spokesman said two women were arrested at Day Street Police Station at about 2.15pm on Saturday. 'Police were told that about 3am on Saturday, two unknown women had allegedly made offensive comments towards a 29-year-old man near a bus stop at the intersection of Pitt and Barlow Street,' he said. 'During this incident, the women also allegedly assaulted the man before leaving the scene on foot. The man sustained facial injuries during the alleged assault.'
