Body of man in his 40s discovered in Norfolk Broads river
The body of a man has been discovered in the River Yare in the Norfolk Broads.
Officers were called after reports of a concern for the safety of a man in the water on a stretch of the river near Ferry Road, Surlingham at 2.33pm.
Norfolk Police said emergency services including fire, ambulance, air ambulance and coastguard attended before a search and rescue operation got under way.
Specialist equipment, including sonar, and a dive team were at the incident.
Sadly, the body of a man in his 40s was discovered earlier this afternoon.
A spokesman from Norfolk Police said: "Emergency services have been on scene since yesterday afternoon (29 May 2026) after reports of a concern for the safety of a man in the water on a stretch of the river near Ferry Road at 2.33pm.
"Police, fire, coastguard, air ambulance and search teams from Norfolk and Suffolk have been on scene and searches continued into the night and early this morning.
"Specialist equipment, including sonar, and a dive team were at the incident and discovered the body of a man in his 40s this afternoon, who was sadly declared deceased at the scene."

The spokesman continued: "His next of kin has been informed. A police cordon is still currently in place.
"The death is being treated as unexplained but not believed to be suspicious. A file is being prepared for the coroner."
