Digital 2.0: Access to mobiles up, but not empowerment
NEW DELHI: India’s digital revolution has succeeded in putting mobile phones in nearly every household, but it has fallen short of delivering meaningful digital inclusion. A report has found that while 95.1% of households own a mobile device and 74.8% have access to a smartphone or internet-enabled phone, only 39.7% of individuals aged 15 and above use the internet, 16.1% of connected households use it for online education and just 11.4% access govt services online.
