Super shoes and perfect conditions - how Sabastian Sawe broke the two-hour mark at the London Marathon
There’s a saying about London buses which can be adapted for the 2026 London Marathon and the sub-two-hour holy grail: you wait ages for one and then two come along at once.Nearly seven years have passed since Eliud Kipchoge ran 1:59:40 in Vienna, Austria, at INEOS’ carefully curated 1:59 Challenge. The wait for an equivalent performance in record-legal conditions, while always a case of when and not if, had been getting tantalisingly longer.Advertisement

Leeds United's FA Cup dream slips away. Now they must refocus and get the job done in the league
Pascal Struijk stood away from the Leeds United group on the Wembley turf. Compatriot Joel Piroe tried to console him, and you don’t need to be Sherlock Holmes to work out what was bothering him. While the rest of the players were disappointed with the result, shaking hands and discussing what went wrong, Struijk could no doubt feel the loss heaviest on his shoulders. He was injured and absent from the squad that lost the Championship play-off final here two years ago, but, on this occasion, he w...
