England supporters have been handed a major boost ahead of the World Cup after tournament chiefs confirmed alcohol will be allowed inside stadium seating areas throughout the competition.

Fans attending matches across the United States, Canada and Mexico will be permitted to drink beer while watching games from their seats - a sharp contrast to restrictions often imposed at football matches in the UK.

The decision means England supporters travelling to North America this summer will be able to enjoy drinks including Budweiser, Stella Artois and Michelob Ultra during matches.

It also marks a dramatic change from the chaos surrounding the last World Cup in Qatar in 2022.

Tournament organisers in Qatar sparked fury among travelling fans after banning alcohol sales at stadiums just days before the competition began.

Meanwhile, supporters were also subject to restrictions during UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany, where authorities in Gelsenkirchen prohibited drinking in seats.

This time, however, American sporting culture appears set to shape the atmosphere at the expanded tournament.

Fans across all 16 host cities will be able to consume alcohol while matches are taking place as football's biggest competition heads across North America.

Thomas Tuchel's England side are due to play group-stage matches in three separate US cities as they attempt to win the World Cup for the first time since 1966.

Supporters have also been handed another unexpected boost after ticket prices for England's matches dropped significantly in recent weeks.

The cheapest available ticket for England's clash with Ghana in Boston has reportedly fallen by 27 per cent over the past month.

Prices for England's opening game against Croatia in Dallas have also dropped sharply, while seats for the group-stage meeting with Panama in New Jersey have become cheaper too.

Despite the reductions, ticket prices remain considerably higher than at previous World Cups.

Industry experts believe prices could continue falling as ticket resellers struggle to shift unsold seats ahead of the tournament, according to The Sun.

That could trigger a late rush from supporters hoping to secure cheaper access to the competition.

Beer prices are also expected to vary dramatically depending on location at the World Cup

Beer prices are also expected to vary dramatically depending on location.

At the famous Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, where England could potentially play in the round of 16, a pint is expected to cost just over £2.

Meanwhile, supporters attending games at BMO Field in Toronto could pay closer to £6.50 per drink.

The most expensive pints of the tournament are expected to be sold at stadiums in California, with prices at SoFi Stadium and Levi's Stadium in San Francisco forecast to exceed £10.
