Woman building beach club in her garden makes colossal mistake with sand

Turning your garden into an Ibiza-style beach club might sound like a great idea, but you might want to do your research first. Summer is almost upon us, and as the weather warms up, it's time for Brits to indulge in many of our favourite summer pastimes - like having too many drinks in a pub beer garden or enjoying a barbecue at home. One woman on social media who wanted to bring the summer vibes to her garden early had a more unique approach, though. Caity Baser decided to turn her garden into a "beach club" reminiscent of holidays in Ibiza, complete with an inflatable swimming pool , palm trees, and masses of sand. However, in a recent TikTok video updating her followers on the status of her project, it was revealed that Caity had unfortunately made a colossal error when ordering the sand for her garden. The woman said she had ordered a tonne of sand, and when it was dropped off at the front of her house, she soon realised she wasn't anywhere near strong enough to drag the 1,000kg bag through her home and into her garden. She found herself having to resort to filling up several buckets and making multiple trips. Caity had laid out a tarpaulin in her garden to protect her grass and dumped the buckets of sand out onto the blue plastic sheet with the intention of completely covering it up. But commenters were quick to point out that the less-than-ideal position of the bag wasn't the only mistake she'd made. Even worse than the extra exercise she'd had to do, Caity had ordered builder's sand for her project - not the sand typically seen on a beach. The sand found on most beaches is known as silica sand or quartz sand, which is composed of silicon dioxide, which forms when hard quartz breaks down over thousands of years of weathering and erosion. While it is found on beaches, it can also be used for golf course bunkers, aquariums, and even equestrian surfaces. Builder's sand, meanwhile, has a lower salt content, a specific angular grain shape, and a washed consistency. It is better suited to being used as structural mortar and concrete, as it can hold water, and the grains can bond tightly together. One commenter on Caity's post wrote: "Oh Caity. Why have you got builders' sand?" Another added: "That's not the same as beach sand, your garden will be a quagmire when it rains." A third posted: "At least you're gonna get a full beach experience with the sea included after it rains." Others commented that if there are households with outdoor cats in Caity's area, they will likely see her garden as a "large litter box" thanks to all the sand. But in a follow-up video, Caity showed the end result of her beach club transformation, as she filmed herself sitting in her blow-up pool while riding an inflatable flamingo. She had friends over for a beach-themed party, including cocktails, bikinis, and plenty of beach-related decor. While the sand might have been a bit of fail, the beach club vibe was definitely still there!
