When will the US-Iran ceasefire end?
ALBAWABA - On February 28, the U.S. and Israel launched a preemptive attack on Tehran, killing senior Iranian officials and military commanders, including the country's supreme leader, Ali Khamenei.
In response, Tehran carried out airstrikes targeting Israel and American assets in the region, including the Gulf and Jordan.
After 40 days of war, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire agreement for two weeks with Iran, after the mediation by Pakistan. A first round of talks was held in the capital, Islamabad, but failed to reach a breakthrough.
A new round of talks is expected this week. However, Iran said it hasn't made any decision regarding its participation in the peace negotiations, triggering fears that the truce will collapse and the war will resume.
