Wang Yi says China will expand win-win cooperation with India

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with outgoing Indian Ambassador to China Pradeep Kumar Rawat in Beijing on Thursday, saying that China is willing to work with India to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields.

Wang expressed his appreciation for Rawat's efforts and contributions to the development of China-India relations, noting that bilateral relations have been placed on the right track for improvement and development.

Wang, who is a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized that as major neighboring countries and emerging economies, China and India's shared interests far outweigh any differences. Without the modernization of China and India, there would be no global modernization, he added.

Against a changing and complex international landscape, Wang reaffirmed China's readiness to work with India to view each other as development opportunities rather than threats, and as partners rather than competitors, to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, safeguard common Global South interests, and strengthen multilateral cooperation within frameworks such as BRICS to consolidate the positive momentum in China-India relations.

Rawat thanked China for its strong support during his tenure and stated that as two ancient civilizations and major countries, maintaining stable and steady bilateral relations is in the mutual interest of both India and China and also holds global significance.

Addressing the turbulent international environment, Rawat said India stands ready to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China, enhance high-level exchanges, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, promote multilateral collaboration and jointly safeguard world peace, stability and development.
