VIP security convoy: KitKat stages high stakes delivery stunt after viral heist

ALBAWABA - Kitkat, which recently went viral after thousands of dollars worth of its chocolate bars got stolen during a heist, is the talk of social media again after the famous brand staged a high-stakes delivery stunt in downtown Toronto, Canada. 

The stunt featured a KitKat truck driving alongside several black SUVs to imitate a security convoy, commonly dispatched to transport VIP and high-profile individuals such as heads of state.

According to Famous Campaigns, the viral stunt was launched by Courage, and clips of it quickly flooded social media as it captured the truck strolling downtown Toronto, accompanied by high security personnel.

Founder of Courage, Joel Holtby said, "Rather than relying on heavy messaging, we tapped into a distinctly Canadian sensibility, an inside joke audiences could immediately understand and participate in. No explanation needed: just a KitKat delivery truck, fully escorted as if it were high-value cargo."

Back in March, the Nestle-owned brand faced a shocking heist when more than 12 tonnes of chocolate were stolen from a truck carrying 413,793 units en route from a factory in central Italy to Poland, as reported by The Guardian. 

In response, KitKat took to social media and wrote that it rolled out a new tracking system called the "Stolen KitKat Tracker" that lets customers scan their barcode to check whether their chocolate bar is from the missing batch.
