Amazon has released the trailer for “Verity,” a twisty thriller adapted from Hoover’s 2018 novel of the same name. The film hits theaters on Oct. 2. The film stars Dakota Johnson as Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling novelist hired to finish the latest book from best-selling author Verity Crawford, played by Anne Hathaway, after an accident leaves her unable to complete it. As Lowen works to complete the project, she discovers a disturbing manuscript that raises questions about her mental stability and links to her publications. Other cast members include Josh Hartnett, Brady Wagner, Asel Swango and Daniel Echevarria. The popular author has been on a box office hot streak with 2024’s “It Ends With Us,” 2025’s “Regretting You” and this year’s “Reminders of Him,” all of which turned a theatrical profit while underscoring the demand for female-focused stories.
