Unspeakable double tragedy as mom takes her own life one day after her boyfriend 'murdered their newborn daughter'

By LAUREN ACTON-TAYLOR, US NEWS REPORTER Published: 02:01, 30 April 2026 | Updated: 02:25, 30 April 2026 A family in Alabama suffered an unspeakable tragedy when a mom took her own life the day after her newborn daughter was allegedly killed by her boyfriend.  Molly McKelvey, 28, was found dead on April 23 after her four-month-old baby girl tragically passed away just a day earlier.  The infant, Lotus, was found not breathing at around 1pm on April 22, as emergency responders attempted life-saving measures on the young girl before she was rushed to hospital.  Madison County Coroner Dr Tyler Berryhill told WAFF that Lotus died from complications of traumatic internal injuries.  Molly's boyfriend, 34-year-old Mickele Kaipolai Ah-Nee, was arrested for domestic violence and homicide related to the infant's death. Huntsville police told the outlet that a preliminary investigation determined that Ah-Nee had been with Lotus when she stopped breathing, and evidence suggested that the infant died from foul play.  Molly's brother, Kristian McKelvey, said that the girl's mother was found to have died by suicide the day of Ah-Nee's arrest.  'She was the happiest little baby I'd ever seen too, you know. I won't be able to ever see her grow old,' he told the outlet. 'I mean there really are no words for having to just first finding out the baby is dead and then the mother commit suicide,' Kristian's fiancée Madison added.  'She was just really full of love and full of life. When you're around her you just feel more alive you know.  'To me there's just no one like her, and Lotus just always seemed like a very happy baby.' Andrea Moon, Molly's mother, wrote on Facebook: 'Today is the worst day of my life. Molly's baby, Lotus Miriam, died yesterday and she dealt with the pain the only way she knew how.' 'I lost my daughter and granddaughter in less than 12 hours. I am beyond devastated...Lotus's father murdered that sweet baby. He had been abusing her,' she claimed.  Lotus's father, Joey Jones, wrote on social media: 'Forever unforgettable and forever unfixable. Daddy loves you more than you'll ever get to know. Mommy loved you so much she left with you. And both of your pawpaws were already there and Devin too.' 'Hell babygirl just tell me when I need to be there and I'll be there. Rather it be earlier than later but just know eventually I'll be there with you and momma too. I'm so sorry Lotus Miriam McKelvey and I'm sorry Molly. Molly's brother, Kristian McKelvey seen left with his fiancée Madison center, said that Lotus's mother was found to have died by suicide the morning after the infant's death Molly left behind two young sons, Orion and Micah, her siblings, her mother and family and friends 'She was the happiest little baby I'd ever seen too you know. I won't be able to ever see her grow old. Molly was - she was a really awesome little sister,' Molly's brother Kristian said 'I'm never gonna be okay now. I just know y'all got identical wings and halos that match each other... rest in peace Lotus and rest in peace Molly. Y'all go and fly high now that you're in the heavens with God himself and everyone else that's been waiting on you.' Lindsey Louque, a friend of Molly's, wrote on social media that she was 'absolutely heartbroken' by the news and described Molly as a 'wonderful person.' 'You could've known her from a variety of places. She worked at Coppertop for a spell. She loved music. She was such a cheerful and vibrant personality. A great friend.' Kristian said on Facebook: 'My sister was one of my best friends sure we didn’t enjoy a lot of the same things but we could just hang for hours and be ourselves with no filters. She helped me keep an open mind and think outside of the box in many situations.' 'We had so many funny moments and I’ll cherish every one of them for ever. I’d describe her to someone and could never tell them her hair color cause she was always changing colors, one day she would have pink next day blue then she would switch up on you and go to a natural color! She had so much love in her heart, I love you so much and I will forever miss you lil sis,' he added.  According to a GoFundMe created by Molly's stepparent Seren Moon, Molly left behind two young sons, Orion and Micah, her siblings, her mother and family and friends.  The fundraiser garnered over $14,500 as of Wednesday evening.   'The loss has left our family heartbroken and struggling to cope with the emotional and financial challenges that come with saying goodbye to loved ones,' Moon wrote.  Ah-Nee remains in custody at the Madison County Jail on a $250,000 bond, jail records show.  The comments below have not been moderated.
