Rabat – SensThings, a spin-off from Morocco’s Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), has gained international recognition after its radiofrequency detection technology received certification under BTL Inc. according to ANSI/IEEE Std 149 standards.

The certification validates the performance of its electromagnetic detection systems designed for critical and high-security environments.

The company, Sensthings, a Moroccan deeptech startup specializing in phygital security solutions, said the recognition represents a “great milestone” in the development of its T3 Shield product line. The system is designed to detect and analyze radiofrequency signals in real time to help identify potential espionage attempts in sensitive areas, as well as electronic cheating devices used in exam settings.

Co-founder Hafid Griguer told SNRT News that the certification is more than a technical approval. He said it confirms that the company has reached an internationally recognized level of excellence in antenna systems and electromagnetic sensors.

At the core of the technology are high-gain and low-gain antennas, which act as the central sensing components of the system. These antennas allow precise and reliable detection of radio signals. Griguer explained that without this antenna expertise, the company’s security solutions would not reach their required level of performance.

Co-founder Rafiq El Alami said the T3 Shield system is aimed at sectors where radiofrequency security is becoming essential. These include command centers, strategic meeting rooms, critical infrastructure, and examination centres. He also noted that electronic cheating is becoming an increasing concern, which makes such technologies more necessary.

Following the certification, Sensthings says it is now better positioned to respond to growing demand in Morocco and internationally. The company is expanding its operations from its industrial site in Benguerir and its base near Rabat.

This development reflects the broader role of UM6P, which works closely with industry to develop technology solutions in areas such as energy, agriculture, artificial intelligence, and engineering. It also supports startups and spin-offs like Sensthings through its innovation ecosystem and helps them move from research to real-world applications.

By backing companies at their early stages, UM6P aims to strengthen Morocco’s position as a regional hub for science, innovation, and deeptech development.
