UK petrol and diesel drivers can get £10 off fuel if you bank with Barclays

British bank Barclays and supermarket giant Tesco have unveiled a joint cashback scheme as Britons grapple with the steepest diesel costs since the outbreak of the Ukraine war in February 2022. The cashback deal will allow Barclays customers to collect 5% cashback on fuel transactions between £5 and £200 made with an eligible personal Barclays debit card at Tesco petrol stations from May 1 through to July 31. The move arrives against a backdrop of rocketing fuel costs partly driven by the ongoing turmoil in the Middle East. Data from motoring organisation the RAC showed the national average for unleaded sitting at 157.17p per litre on Monday, with diesel at 189.23p. Both figures were virtually unchanged from Friday. According to figures released by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero on 28 April, the average cost per litre of ultra low sulphur unleaded petrol across the UK stood at 156.99p, while ultra low sulphur diesel averaged 189.81p per litre.
