Two men arrested after 'foreign tourist spiked and sexually assaulted' in Majorca
By NATALIA PENZA and TOM LAWRENCE, NEWS REPORTER Published: 18:34, 10 May 2026 | Updated: 18:34, 10 May 2026 Police have arrested two men suspected of sexually assaulting a foreign tourist in Majorca after spiking her drinks in a bar. The young tourist was travelling alone in Majorca and claims she was targeted by two men on a night out on Friday, May 1. The holidaymaker said she started feeling unwell after leaving her drink unattended when she went to the toilet. The men she had met that night then reportedly offered to drive her back to her hotel, police said. Instead, they allegedly took her to a waste ground and sexually assaulted her on the back seat of the car. Locals called the police after she managed to escape from the vehicle and begged for help. The incident was reported in Manacor, the second largest town in Majorca, which is roughly halfway between Palma and the east coast of the island. Two suspects, who have not been named, were tracked down and arrested by local police. The suspects were remanded to a local jail after going before a judge at the start of the week. The young tourist was travelling alone in Manacor, Majorca and claims she was targeted by two men on a night out A spokesperson for the National Police in Majorca said: 'Officers in Manacor have arrested two men as the suspected authors of a crime of sexual assault against a woman.' Police said the incident took place after the alleged victim entered a bar on May 1. The woman sat on the terrace of the bar by herself, before she was approached by a man, who began a conversation with her. His friend then joined them. Police said: 'The three had drinks together and at one point, the woman got up from the table to go to the toilet, leaving her drink where it was on the table. 'The woman says in the statement she made to police that she then began to feel symptoms which didn't correspond with normal alcohol consumption.' 'Both men, before they got up from the table, insisted to the victim that she should finish her drink.' The woman told officers that she wanted to call a taxi to take her back to the hotel. However the men offered to accompany her and said they had a car they could drive her back in. The woman's memory then only came back in flashes from that point onwards. She told officers she remembered the men stopping on 'waste ground in a dark area where there were no buildings around'. The police spokesperson added: 'The men allegedly took advantage of the situation she found herself in to sexually assault her on the back seat of the vehicle. 'At one point, she managed to escape the car and run away, crossing a road and asking for help at the first house she found. 'The occupants immediately called police. 'Officers accompanied her to hospital for a medical examination as part of protocol and then proceeded to take a statement from her.' Police said they managed to track the suspects down after the victim gave them all the information she could about the two men she met, saying: 'When one of the individuals was intercepted, he had a packet of medicines with him.' Local reports describe the woman as a foreign 'young tourist'. Her nationality has not yet been revealed and it is not clear if she remains in Majorca. No comments have so far been submitted.
