Twins pitcher Mick Abel to miss more time after reporting soreness in different area

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Mick Abel won’t be returning to a mound for the Minnesota Twins just yet.The team said Thursday the young right-hander received a cortisone shot in his right triceps after reporting soreness following a Saturday bullpen session. Twins assistant general manager Alex Hassan described the soreness as “the back of the tricep or a tricep impingement” and said Abel will be reevaluated on Tuesday. Abel, who is 1-2 with a 3.98 ERA in four games and 16 strikeouts in 13 scoreless innings spanning his last two outings, originally landed on the injured list on April 20 because of right elbow inflammation.Advertisement
