Tragic cause of death of Days of Our Lives star Patrick Muldoon revealed

Actor Patrick Muldoon's cause of death has been revealed, with the reason listed on the Hollywood star's death certificate marked down as myocardial infarction - more commonly known as a heart attack. Muldoon was best known his roles in hit 90s TV shows Saved by the Bell, Melrose Place, and for two stints on US soap Days of Our Lives. The actor's death certificate, issued by the County of Los Angeles’ Department of Public Health and obtained by Us Weekly , also revealed that Muldoon had also dealt with a hereditary coagulopathy disorder and suffered from a pulmonary embolism. A pulmonary embolism occurs when a blood clot travels to either the lungs or a vital artery and forms a blockage, whereas hereditary coagulopathy disorders are genetic conditions that can cause excessive bleeding as the blood struggles to clot properly. The sad confirmation comes almost two weeks after his death at age 57. He died on April 19 at his Beverly Hills home, his manager confirmed to Variety . His death certificate confirms he was cremated on Tuesday (April 28). Tributes poured in from those closest to him in the wake of his death, describing Muldoon as "endlessly generous" as well as "stylish, charismatic, and full of life". A friend added the 90s TV heartthrob "embraced each day with a full-tilt, rock 'n' roll spirit." The California native began his career in the early 90s, and made his TV debut that same year by appearing in two episodes of popular sitcom Who's The Boss, before landing a small part in Saved By The Bell as Jeff, alongside Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, Dustin Diamond and Tiffani-Amber Thiessen. It was in 1992 that he was given one of the biggest roles of his career as Austin Reed in Days Of Our Lives, brother of Lisa Rinna's Billie Reed. He originally played the boxer for three years before returning to the character in 2011. Just last year, he sent viewers into a spin when he teased a possible return to the set, in a video shared on Peacock's official Instagram page. In the brief clip, he could be seen wandering around backstage, before telling the cameras: "Oh my God I'm in Salem! It's good to be back". Following his first stint on Days Of Our Lives, Muldoon was cast as Melrose Place villain Richard Hart, before popping up in a selection of TV films, including Chain of Command, Project Viper, Fatal Acquittal and Patient Killer. On the big screen, he appeared in Starship Troopers alongside ex-girlfriend Denise Richards, as well as Stigmata, Saving Christmas , Marlowe, Spiders 3D and The Comeback Trail, with his last film credit as Thomas Bennett in 2024's Murder at Hollow Creek. He also stepped behind the camera to produce a string of projects. He most recently worked on Kockroach, starring Chris Hemsworth and Taron Egerton, and spoke about the project on Instagram just a few days ago. In his last Instagram post, he wrote: "So excited to be a part of this amazing project KOCKROACH directed by Matt Ross starring Chris Hemsworth, Taron Edgerton, Zazie Beetz And Alec Baldwin. Filming now in Australia .' Fans have flocked to the comments section below to share tributes following the sad news of his passing, with one person writing: "Grew up watching you in starship troopers . R.I.P legend." "Omfg noooo I can't believe this is true. RIP Patrick," another commented, as a follower shared: "You will be missed! Wishing all of Patrick's friends, family and devoted fans love, comfort and intentions of peace and ease." "Such a kind, talented soul. You will be missed," an Instagram user wrote, while a grieving fan added: "RIP Patrick, breaks my heart to see the news. The world has lost a remarkable man!" Muldoon, reportedly known as "Bobo" to loved ones, is survived by his partner, entertainment lawyer Miriam Rothbart and his parents, Deanna and Patrick Muldoon Sr.
