On Tuesday, April 21 the McMann family, from Palmyra, Maine, were holidaying in Myrtle Beach when tragedy struck. What should have been a happy family holiday turned into every parent's nightmare when Lauchlin McMann was seen struggling to swim in the hotel pool. The four-year-old was seen on security footage reviewed by police 'flailing' in the pool while surrounded by other playing children at around 7.53pm, The Post and Courier reported. Lauchlin then tragically sank under the water before a hotel employee pulled him out around four minutes later. North Myrtle Beach Police officers rushed to the scene in just a matter of minutes to find a bystander performing CPR on the little boy, according to the outlet. Lauchlin was rushed to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center by emergency services. But sadly despite best efforts to save his life he was pronounced dead on Monday April 27. His family and grandparents who flew in to be by his side. An investigation into his death remains ongoing. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family with overwhelming medical bills. The heartbreaking message reads: "My son Justin, his wife Ashley, and their children—Parker (8), Hudson (7), and Lauchlin (4)—recently went on a family vacation to Myrtle Beach during school break. What was meant to be a joyful time together turned into a heartbreaking tragedy on Tuesday, April 21. "Lauchlin, our sweet and loving little boy, was involved in a terrible accident. He was first taken to a nearby hospital and then airlifted to a Children's Hospital in South Carolina, where he was surrounded by his family and grandparents who flew in to be by his side." It continues: "Lauchlin was truly cherished by everyone who knew him. His bright spirit and loving nature touched so many lives. Today, our hearts are shattered as we share that Lauchlin has earned his wings. The pain of this loss is unimaginable, and our family is struggling to come to terms with it while supporting each other through the grief."
