Rabat – Morocco’s General Directorate of Meteorology said today that several provinces will experience thunderstorms with a risk of hail on Monday.

Strong thunderstorms between 20 and 35 millimeters are expected to hit the provinces of Chtouka Ait Baha, Chichaoua, Khemisset, El Hajeb, and Taroudant from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The same weather will also affect Khouribga, Ifrane, Khenifra, Figuig, Boulemane, Settat, and Sefrou.

Rainfall has contributed to Morocco’s water levels, delivering a major boost to Moroccan dams.

It also offers relief to regions that depend heavily on dams for their water supply. New data from Morocco’s government said that the overall fertility rate of Morocco’s dams reached 72.1%.

The total volume of water stored in the country’s reservoirs stands at 12.3 billion cubic meters. The number is more than double the volume recorded at the same time last year.

Earlier this month, Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch recalled forecasts suggesting the continued recovery of the national economy for the fifth consecutive year.

Akhannouch attributed the situation to improved performance in non-agricultural sectors and the exceptional growth of the agricultural sector, which is expected to record a historic rate of around 15% in 2026.

The government acknowledged that flooding was recorded in certain areas of the North and the Gharb, and their impact on crops and the agricultural sector.

The rainfall will help improve the productivity of production chains, including cereals, staple crops, and livestock.

Akhannouch emphasized promising prospects for strengthening the agricultural sector and its contribution to economic growth.
