By SARAH BROOKES - SENIOR REPORTER, AUSTRALIA Published: 04:36, 12 April 2026 | Updated: 04:55, 12 April 2026 Four people are in a critical condition after a crash involving two cars and a motorbike on a windy mountain road in Queensland’s south-east. Emergency services were rushed to the scene on Tamborine Mountain Road about 10.38am on Sunday, after reports of a multi-vehicle collision on the notorious stretch of road.  Queensland Police said four people were fighting for their lives following the crash, while two other passengers were taken to hospital with less serious injuries. The motorcyclist, a man in his 50s ,was airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital with life-threatening injuries.  A man and woman in their 70s were taken to the same hospital by ambulance, also with life-threatening injuries. Three men in their 20s riding in one of the cars were also injured, with one airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a life-threatening condition. The two other men have been taken to hospital in stable conditions. The road, which winds through the Gold Coast hinterland, is notorious for its narrow lanes, sharp bends and steep sections, and is a popular route connecting the coast with Tamborine Mountain’s village communities.
