Three found dead after horror house fire tears through Wiley Park home as police launch major investigation

By KYLIE STEVENS, SENIOR BREAKING NEWS REPORTER, AUSTRALIA Published: 21:34, 29 July 2026 | Updated: 21:52, 29 July 2026 Three people have died in a house fire in Sydney's south-west.   Emergency services were called to a Cornelia Street home in Wiley Park at about 9.45pm on Wednesday following numerous triple zero calls about a fire. Twenty firefighters were confronted by a blaze so ferocious that flames were coming  'They forced their way through the burning exterior of the property, extinguishing scaffolding and garden trellis that had caught alight,' a Fire and Rescue NSW statement read.  The bodies of three people were located in a granny flat at the back of the badly damaged home. They are yet to be formally identified. A crime scene was established as an investigation was launched into the cause. 'Our investigators will examine the scene thoroughly, once it's been declared safe,' FRNSW Commissioner Jeremy Fewtrell said.
