Teen arrested after boys stabbed in Cardiff park
Detectives investigating a stabbing in Cardiff have arrested a 17-year-old boy. Two teenage boys were taken to hospital after being stabbed in a park in Gabalfa on Sunday. Officers from South Wales Police were called to reports of a serious assault in Lydstep Park where two local boys aged 16 and 17 were taken to the University Hospital of Wales with stab wounds. Their injuries were not life-threatening and both victims have now been discharged from hospital. Detectives have arrested a teenager from the Caerau area on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of a knife, possession of cannabis with intent to supply, and assault by beating. He remains in police custody. A spokesperson for the force said on Thursday that the victims and their families have been updated and the investigation is continuing. During the arrest, which took place on Wednesday evening, a 61-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of affray, police added. Detective inspector Phil Marchant, from South Wales Police, said: “The arrest of this 17-year-old male is a significant development in the investigation and is the result of extensive enquiries since the incident was reported. “We would like to thank the local community for the support and information we have received.
