Iran will close the strategic Strait of Hormuz again if the United States continues its blockade of Iranian ports, parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Saturday.

"With the continuation of the blockade, the Strait of Hormuz will not remain open," Ghalibaf wrote on X, adding that passage through the waterway would depend on authorisation from Iran.

President Donald Trump said late Friday he planned to maintain a US blockade of Iranian ports if a peace deal with Tehran is not reached, adding that he may not extend the ceasefire after its expiration Wednesday.

"Maybe I won't extend it, but the blockade is going to remain," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One.

In case you missed it last evening, a major development took place on the tenth day of the ceasefire of the US-Israel-Iran war unfolded, and the first day of an Israel-Lebanon truce — Iran has declared that the Strait of Hormuz will be 'completely open' for commercial vessels during the remaining period of its truce.

In Lebanon, some people celebrated the ceasefire and packed their belongings on trucks to return to their towns and villages in the south of the country. The Israeli army, however, said civilians are not allowed yet to return.
