Southampton boss Tonda Eckert or technical director Johannes Spors could face a ban if they are found to have ordered the alleged SpyGate mission that has engulfed the club. The Saints booked their place at Wembley this week by beating Middlesbrough in their play-off semi-final. Shea Charles' goal late in extra-time was good enough for victory, but it came after allegations of spying before the first-leg at the Riverside Stadium at the weekend. Southampton were charged by the EFL with misconduct after Boro allegedly caught a member of their analyst staff spying at their Rockliffe training ground. It has cast doubt over whether the south coast club will take on Hull for the right to play in the Premier League . The hearing, which is yet to be confirmed, will be conducted by an independent disciplinary commission. One of the possible outcomes, should Southampton be found guilty, could be to ban Eckert or Spors for matches, reports The Sun . The alleged individual in question has been identified as intern William Salt. He was photographed hiding behind a tree using his mobile phone to spy on the Teessiders’ training session before he was confronted. Salt has previously been photographed on the shoulder of Saints boss Eckert when he celebrated his Sky Bet Championship manager of the month award in February. He has not been included in more recent photos. Middlesbrough are ready to launch their case and are understood to have details of a credit card used by the individual at the golf club next to Rockliffe, part of the complex owned by Boro chairman Steve Gibson, which could potentially be part of a paper-trail that builds their case. Gibson has called upon the services of high-profile sports lawyer Nick De Marco and the Teesside club are calling for the EFL hearing to begin before the weekend so that clarity can be sought. Kim Hellberg, who delivered an emotional response after Middlesbrough's season ended at St Mary's on Tuesday night, and his players are continuing to train as the possibility exists that Southampton could be expelled from the play-off final, which could see them reinstated. In an embarrassing climb down Southampton have been forced to delete all ticketing updates, which they wrongly posted on Wednesday night as they shared information for the final. The club say the confusion over tickets was due to the fact they were meant to publish details at the same time as fellow finalists Hull. Join our new WhatsApp community!
