What’s happened: Sir Alex Ferguson was taken to hospital after falling unwell at Old Trafford shortly before Manchester United's Premier League match with Liverpool on Sunday. However, it was a precautionary move and not an emergency situation. What we know: After feeling unwell, Ferguson was treated at Old Trafford by medics . He was then taken to hospital by ambulance. Previous health scares: It is not the first time that the Scot has been involved in a health scare. He suffered a brain haemorrhage in 2018 but recovered after undergoing successful surgery. What Ferguson said: Speaking about that scare in the 2021 film ' Sir Alex Ferguson : Never Give In', the former United boss said: "There were five brain haemorrhages that day. Three died. Two survived. You know you are lucky." Recovery: Despite only being given a 20 per cent survival rate by doctors, Ferguson made a full recovery. He regularly attends United matches not only at Old Trafford but also around the world. Dementia fears: Having seen a number of his close friends and colleagues suffer from dementia, Ferguson admitted the degenerative brain disease has started to frighten him. He told the BBC: "I'm 82, obviously I worry about it. Generally my memory is quite good - pray the lord, touch wood it’ll stay that way."
