Rabat – Al Moutmir, an outreach initiative providing data-driven tools to help farmers, has showcased its integrated programs and digital solutions at the 18th International Agriculture Fair (SIAM) in Meknes.

Al Moutmir is an initiative backed by Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) and the OCP Foundation that aims to support farmers across the country.

Its programs focus on science-driven, inclusive, and sustainable agriculture to support farmers across the entire value chain.

The initiatives are also focused on shedding light on the importance of innovation and field-level proximity and how they can accelerate the transformation of Morocco’s agricultural sector.

This year’s highlights include Al Moutmir’s Animal Production program, seeking to support small and medium-scale livestock farmers.

The program offers guidance around animal feed, forage production, reproduction, herd health, and techno-economic management.

The structure also combines technology transfer, field demonstrations, training, and digital tools to improve livestock system performance.

SmartFeed, which is part of the plan, reinforces this approach with its innovative digital solution for ration formulation and performance monitoring.

It also enables tailored feeding and improved efficiency, Al Moutmir said.

“To date, the program has supported over 1,500 breeders, deployed more than 120 forage demonstration platforms, organized over 100 training sessions, and built a dedicated community of more than 2,000 members,” Al Moutmir explained.

As part of its participation in SIAM, Al Moutmir presented the Pulses 4 Soil & Food Initiative, one of  its key pillars. The initiative aims to revitalize pulses by placing them back at the heart of cereal rotations.

This is presented as a lever for soil fertility, with results confirming its potential. Yield increased by 20-25%, while profit margins were up by 10 to 25%, Al Moutmir said.

Among the key programs is also the launch of a strategic partnership with CropLife Africa & Middle East and CropLife Morocco to implement a national program focused on training and supporting the responsible use of plant protection products.

This is in addition to another partnership between Al Moutmir and UM6P- AITTC and ACT Network to establish a regional sustainable agriculture platform in Benguerir focused on sustainable mechanization and conservation agriculture.

Al Moutmir’s programs extend far beyond agriculture, also focusing on water management.

One of its strategies aims to improve irrigation efficiency while strengthening crop system resilience and promoting responsible water use.

This program is supported by AquaSense, a smart irrigation management solution enabling precise soil moisture monitoring and optimized water application.

It offers 3,000 training sessions, supporting over 200 cooperatives in water saving and recycling practices.

According to Al Moutmir, this initiative helps water productivity gains reach up to 25% in arboriculture and 7 to 15% in vegetable farming.

Women’s empowerment is another cornerstone of Al Motumir’s vision. ElleMoutmir is among its initiatives deployed to promote inclusive agriculture and empower rural women through support training, technical assistance, management development, adapted mechanization, digital solutions, and networking.

The program supports over 4,000 women farmers, over 400 agricultural cooperatives, and more than 20 agricultural input resellers.

“This initiative positions women as key actors in sustainable agriculture, local development, and food security,” Al Moutmir said.

Al Moutmir is also committed to supporting youth through its Young Leaders initiative, fostering a new generation of farmers and rural entrepreneurs by combining agronomic expertise, entrepreneurial skills, and digital literacy.

As part of the program, 450 young leaders benefited from assistance, including in startups producing customized fertilizers and the creation of more than 10 agricultural service cooperatives led by rural youth.
