Published: 01:06, 30 April 2026 | Updated: 01:08, 30 April 2026 Jourdan Feasby endured every parent's worst nightmare last Thanksgiving, when she rushed into a children's hospital after finding out her kids were in a house fire.  She nearly vaulted over the front desk to reach her youngest child, who suffered catastrophic burns over 80 percent of her body. When they led her to the back, doctors were performing CPR on her seven-year-old daughter, Alena.  'I just remember dropping to the ground, screaming "fight, fight,"' anguished Feasby, 33, told Daily Mail.  Doctors told Feasby that Alena's burn injuries were too much for her little body to endure. Her heart stopped beating while her mother cradled her on the hospital bed. Feasby's two sons, Rylee, 10, and Connor, nine, were already dead.  The boys' charred bodies were found holding one another under a dining room table, as they sought comfort in their final moments - all while their father's apartment in Kenosha, Wisconsin went up in flames. Feasby's ex Joshua Kannin rushed out in a 'panic' at the first signs of the inferno, leaving the children to fend for themselves. He faces three charges of neglecting a child - consequence a death. His initial court appearance is scheduled for May 14, 2026. Five months on, Feasby has now spoken out about the alleged disgusting domestic situation her ex allowed her children to endure inside the home - and the warnings she says she gave that were ignored that may have saved her children's lives.   Jourdan Feasby said she is living her 'worst nightmare' following the death of her children. She is pictured here with Alena, Rylee and Connor in happier times Feasby's ex Joshua Kannin, 39, is accused of child neglect after leaving his young children in the fiery home Feasby claims this photo is a glimpse inside Joshua Kannin's apartment, before it went up in flames in an apartment fire that killed his three children. Bottles, cans, plates and food can be seen all over the couch and floor The distraught mother told the Daily Mail that not only does she not believe her ex's sorry excuses for letting the kids die, but also claimed that her late children were forced to live in decrepit conditions inside her ex's home leading up to the fire.  Feasby alleged to the Daily Mail that the home was 'disgusting,' and said Kannin allegedly took down the smoke detectors in the house so he could smoke cigarettes and marijuana inside. The father admitted to manipulating and removing the detectors 'due to the alarm sounds or alerts being an annoyance,' according to the criminal complaint seen by Daily Mail.  Harrowing new photos provided by Feasby allegedly show the unkempt house, with the floor littered with trash that allegedly reeked of animal urine, the property manager said in the complaint. One picture Feasby took showed a squalid kitchen, where the sink is barely visible as pots, pans, and other items are scattered over the littered counter, also mentioned in the complaint. Kannin admitted to police that his gas stove was covered in 'clutter' such as donuts, cigarettes, a toaster, and other daily items, per the complaint. Photos provided by Feasby allegedly show the inside of Kannin's cluttered and trash-filled apartment, which went up in flames on Thanksgiving last year, killing the three children Feasby described her ex's apartment as 'disgusting.' Connor, their middle child, is pictured inside what she says was her ex's home The two boys died at the scene, while Alena was taken to the hospital with severe burns covering 80 percent of her body. She later died in hospital  'There's mess and then there is disgusting. He had two cats that [peed on] everything in the house,' Feasby recalled.  'So not only did it smell like cat spray, even the property manager said that when they would go and knock to tell him about the smoke detectors, he would open up the door and all you would smell is cat pee right in your face.' The property manager also mentioned the strong cat stench to police, and said every time she would attempt to go into the father's home, Kannin would refuse. 'He would open the door and it smelled like straight up cat [pee.] He wouldn't let me in,' the property manager said, according to the complaint. 'He refused maintenance to do a walk through,' the property manager told police, saying that Kannin would say 'everything is fine.' 'From what I've seen, it smelled and didn't look clean. I could only see from the living room,' the property manager said to police, according to the complaint. According to the complaint, Feasby told police that Kannin was being evicted from the apartment. Feasby told the Daily Mail - and police, according to the complaint - that she had warned the property manager and Kannin's mother about the missing smoke detectors since 2024, but nothing was fixed.  When police asked the property manager if Feasby brought up concerns about the devices, she stated she 'wasn't 100 percent sure,' and that the mom 'might have told me after she moved out,' per the complaint. 'It's insane how much I literally, for months, just pressed and pressed and pressed and it didn't do anything. Nobody listened. And I just don't know how that's even acceptable,' Feasby told the Daily Mail.  Investigators found evidence that two of the children went into the kitchen to make their own food before the blaze started Feasby alleged that Kannin had two cats, and claimed the entire apartment smelled like cat urine Firefighters discovered there were no smoke detectors in the 39-year-old's home Along with hoarder-like living conditions, Feasby said she doesn't believe the father's story to police about 'panicking' during the fire.  'It's bullc**p to me. Panic only goes so far, and panic only shows to a certain extent. To me, if I'm going to be in a panic, I'm not going to walk out the front door, as he states,' she told Daily Mail.  'If I'm going to be in a panic, I'm not going to remember to shut my front door because I'm in a state of panic,' she said, referring to Kannin as he told police he tried to open the front door after he left, but it 'made the flames worse,' according to the complaint. The distraught mother cannot wrap her mind about his claims, saying 'none of it makes sense.'  According to the criminal complaint, the father woke up late that night and went downstairs, where he told police he saw 'a little fire on the kitchen floor.'  Describing the flames as 'a tiny little thing,' Kannin said he 'panicked and walked out the front door.' The father claimed he thought to himself, 'I have to get help' and left his apartment to go to his neighbors. He told police he later screamed to his kids to come downstairs.  Feasby, pictured with her son Rylee, said she shared 50-50 custody with Kannin Feasby is pictured with her daughter Alena, who died in her arms in hospital after the fire 'I opened the door and I heard my kids. I tried to go back in, but smoke just came at me and I couldn't see. I barely got two steps in and I had to turn back around,' Kannin said, according to the complaint. Kannin admitted that when he opened the front door, he made the flames 'worse,' according to the complaint.  By the time Kenosha police and firefighters extinguished the blaze, Rylee and Connor had suffered burns so horrible that life saving measures were not attempted due to the 'obvious' signs of death. Alena later died in her mother's arms at the hospital.  Feasby said Alena was found in her son's room, hiding behind the dresser. She concluded that Alena was trying to find her brothers at the time of the fire.  'My boys were found in the dining room under the table. My Connor was on top of Riley trying to protect him,' Feasby told Daily Mail.  Investigators found that a stovetop burner was left on, and court filings stated the kitchen seemed to be where the fire broke out. Investigators also found evidence that two of the children went into the kitchen to make their own food before the blaze started. The fire was ruled an 'accidental common household fire,' with investigators saying there was no evidence the father intentionally set the fire.  Kannin was charged on April 21 with three counts of neglecting a child – consequence is death. He is yet to enter a plea or appear in court.  'He hasn't spoken to me besides saying 'I'm sorry I didn't go back upstairs to save them Jourdan,' when we were at the hospital with Alena,' Feasby told Daily Mail.  Five months after the fire, Feasby says her healing gets harder each day.  Kannin ran out of the home 'panicked' to get help when he saw the fire, according to the complaint Feasby is seeking justice after her three children died in the fire Feasby said the hardest part is every day after the funeral and that she died with her kids the day the fire happened  'You think finding out is going to be the hardest or the funeral is going to be the hardest. But in all actuality, the hardest part is every day after that. It hurts more and more every day,' she said.  Riley, the oldest son, was artistic and creative; Feasby loved watching his video projects and said he got those traits from her.  'He was just concerned about everyone else over himself. He always wanted to make sure no one got left out or everyone was seen and heard, and he definitely liked to watch over and be the big brother,' she said. Feasby described her middle son, Connor, as a mix of artsy and sporty - sharing that he loved to make paper airplanes, while also running around playing soccer.  'Just seeing how somebody can be so protective and so strong-willed, but then still have the most little cuddliest little teddy bear heart when it needed to come through was just so amazing to see,' she said of the nine-year-old. Alena, about to turn eight, loved to draw and do gymnastics. Feasby described her as 'all the good parts of me.'  'The light that she had in her little spirit and her little heart just lit up a room as soon as she walked into it,' the mom said. She loved how graceful and girly she was, yet also tough enough to kick it with her big brothers. She called her kids the 'three little amigos' 'They were very energetic, the little three amigos. They just gave everyone and the teachers a run for their money.' The community has rallied around Feasby's grieving family, raising over $65,000 to support her and the funeral arrangements through a GoFundMe, and classmates honored Riley with a 'chocolate milk tribute.'  'He would always ask the kids after school, are you guys are going to drink your chocolate milk? Can I have it? That was a daily routine for him.  'After he passed away, all the kids took their chocolate milk and put it on his desk after lunch,' she told Daily Mail. Feasby refuses to back down in her fight for justice.  'Justice, for me, would look like him being in a jail cell for the rest of his life, just like how my children are in the ground for the rest of my life,' Feasby said. The maximum sentence for child neglect that resulted in death in Wisconsin is 25 years in prison and $100,000 in fines.  The Daily Mail has reached out to Kannin's attorney for comment.  No comments have so far been submitted.
