Watch the moment GB News host Emily Carver shuts down a Labour MP over Andy Burnham's uncontested path to No10.

Speaking to GB News, Perran Moon assured the People's Channel the Makerfield MP has "gone through a process" in order to become the next Prime Minister.

As Emily argued, the Downing Street hopeful has faced "no questions and no scrutiny", Mr Moon was quick to disagree.

He responded: "There have been questions asked of Andy Burnham, by the Parliamentary Labour Party. There's a process that we go through and in fact that process isn't yet complete."

Emily interjected Mr Moon, telling the MP: "No one contested him, no one contested him. Why did no one contest him?

"Then the Labour Party could have contested his ideas?"

Mr Moon told GB News: "There is a very clear process within the Labour Party that if somebody wants to get 81 nominations, they can stand. But nobody did stand.

"So there's a formal process that we have to follow as part of our rules, which you'll see him being made Prime Minister in the near, near, near future."

Emily Carver, Perran Moon

Emily expressed her outrage at the lack of contest from the Labour Party, declaring it "shameful".

Pressed by host Tom Harwood on whether he attended the party meeting with Mr Burnham, Mr Moon assured that he, alongside "dozens" of colleagues, attended.

He said: "I was there and there were dozens of colleagues there, but I don't know how many there was overall."

Tom then interjected Mr Moon, asking: "Because it was only an hour long, wasn't it? Which means very few of you would have been able to ask a question, and of course it was all behind closed doors."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Andy Burnham

The Labour MP responded: "There were several questions that were asked. I'm not going to go into them. It was a hustings for the Parliamentary Labour Party.

"But he answered many, many questions at that hustings."

Asked whether Mr Burnham intends to stick to the Labour manifesto on which Sir Keir Starmer was elected, Mr Moon told GB News: "Labour was elected with a landslide majority on a particular manifesto.

"So my understanding is that Andy Burnham is going to be following through on that manifesto, picking up a lot of the work that we've already done to stabilise the economy, increase wage inflation, reduce small boat crossings by 40 per cent, and reduce NHS waiting lists.

"He will really focus on the investments in the public services that we desperately, desperately need in a time of real fiscal constraints, so my understanding is that is the baton that Andy Bunham is going to be picking up."

Perran Moon

Asking Mr Moon a second time on whether Mr Burnham will definitely come into power with "no change and full steam ahead", the MP suggested that he may bring his "own ideas" to the table.

He said: "Well, I mean, Andy will have his own views. He's already spoken in great detail about how he would like to see the devolution programme being much, much more quickly implemented, which is great news for us in Cornwall.

"We want to see that move ahead much more quickly. So it's more about being brave and moving faster than we've been able to up to now.

"I know Cornwall has a really strong local identity and has always felt like a part of the country that hasn't perhaps been heard at the heart of power as much as perhaps it should have been."
