Several Americans injured in Iranian ballistic missile strike on a Kuwaiti air base

Published: 16:16, 30 May 2026 | Updated: 16:28, 30 May 2026 Several Americans have been injured in an Iranian ballistic missile strike on a Kuwaiti air base, as Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has revealed that troops are preparing to 'recommence if necessary.'  Five people, including contractors and active duty personnel, have suffered minor injuries after a missile strike, sources told Bloomberg.  Kuwaiti air defenses intercepted the missile, but debris still struck the Ali Al Salem air base, a person with direct knowledge of the attack told the publication.  The Iranians used a Fateh-110 missile, which was intercepted by two MQ-9 Reaper strike drones, destroying one of them and severely damaging the second, Bloomberg reported.  A Fateh-110 missile is a short-range ballistic missile. Tehran has fired more than 1,850 ballistic missiles since the start of the war, according to the Center for Strategic and International Studies. The drones cost about $30 million each.
