Satif the blind star Maan Abdel Haq arrested in Damascus — Here’s why
ALBAWABA - Syrian security forces arrested actor Maan Abdel Haq, best known for his role as "Satif the Blind" in the popular television series "Bab Al-Hara," on Tuesday.
Syria TV and the Syria Now platform reported that Abdel Haq was detained in Damascus.
Maan Abdel Haq is known for his support of the ousted regime of Bashar al-Assad.
In "Bab Al-Hara," Abdel Haq played the role of "Satif the Blind," a character who spied on the Syrian resistance for the French occupation. He killed "the leader" and several other residents of the neighborhood before Colonel Abu Shahab and the young men of the neighborhood captured him and avenged their deaths.
About a month ago, Syrian social media platforms circulated reports that Abdel Haq's body had been found at his residence in the Netherlands, but these reports were later proven false.
Media reports indicate that the arrest was part of specific security measures and that Abdel Haq is still being interrogated. There is widespread anticipation in the artistic and media circles for clarification from the relevant authorities regarding the reasons behind this action.
