Roy Keane furious as Daniel Sturridge interrupts rant during Man Utd vs Liverpool coverage
A heated on-air confrontation erupted between Roy Keane and Daniel Sturridge during Sky Sports coverage prior to Manchester United's fixture against Liverpool at Old Trafford.
The former United skipper and ex-Liverpool striker found themselves at odds whilst discussing whether Michael Carrick should be appointed as permanent manager.
Carrick has been serving in an interim capacity since Ruben Amorim's departure earlier this year, guiding the club to third position in the table.
A win for United against the reigning Premier League champions would secure their Champions League qualification, a scenario that seemed improbable when Amorim was dismissed.
The debate between the two pundits quickly turned uncomfortable as tensions flared over Keane's assessment of the situation surrounding Carrick's future.
Keane began by praising the progress made under Carrick's stewardship, highlighting early triumphs against Manchester City and Arsenal that instilled belief within the squad.
The Irishman acknowledged the team had encountered difficulties, referencing setbacks at Newcastle and against Leeds at home, but noted they had recovered well and built positive momentum.

He suggested the Liverpool match could prove decisive in determining whether Carrick lands the role permanently, despite cautioning against placing too much emphasis on a single fixture.
Keane then made his controversial assertion: "There's a lot of PR, there's a lot of push for him.
"He's a young English coach, a lot of media onside for him pushing him.

"The people who work for Man United, the PR machine is working hard to try and get him in the job."
Sturridge appeared bewildered by this claim and cut across his fellow pundit, demanding: "All right Roy, what PR?"
Keane responded curtly, asking whether he could be allowed to complete his point.
The former Liverpool forward persisted, stating: "You keep saying PR, PR."
Keane fired back once more: "There's a lot of PR toward him, if you just let me finish."
The uncomfortable exchange concluded when Sturridge backed down from the confrontation.

"I had to interject, I apologise," the ex-England international conceded.
The awkward moment highlighted the differing perspectives between the two former players regarding the narrative surrounding Carrick's potential permanent appointment at Old Trafford.
Gary Neville offered a more measured perspective on the managerial situation, admitting he remained uncertain about whether Carrick should be given the position permanently.
The former United defender explained his initial instinct had been that the club ought to pursue an elite-level appointment.
"My gut feeling was, before he got the job, was that Manchester United should go out and appoint a world class manager and the very best that they can, who has a body of work with the Champions League and experience winning league title, and Michael obviously doesn't have that," Neville stated.
He acknowledged Carrick had been developing his managerial credentials at Middlesbrough but posed the question of which suitable candidates were currently available, with links to Luis Enrique still ongoing.
