Rory McIlroy gives wedding advice to Travis Kelce ahead of Taylor Swift ceremony

Rory McIlroy joined Travis and Jason Kelce on their "New Heights" podcast earlier this week, sharing insights from his Masters Champions Dinner whilst drawing parallels to the NFL star's forthcoming wedding to Taylor Swift.

The Northern Irish golfer, 36, hosted the prestigious dinner last month following his 2025 Masters triumph.

"It's an incredible night to be sitting in that room," McIlroy explained.

"It's a bit like and Travis, you'll feel this this year whenever you're sitting at your wedding you have all the people in a room it's amazing to have all these people in the same room.

"You're just sitting there and it's surreal. It's unbelievable."

"I can't wait," Kelce replied enthusiastically.

McIlroy, who is now a two-time Masters champion, also offered practical guidance on beverages for the celebration, revealing his decade-long passion for wine collecting.

When Travis pressed him for recommendations, McIlroy was unequivocal about his preference.

"You gotta give me your wine choice, though," the Kansas City Chiefs star asked.

"What are we doing for our favorite kind of wine for a celebration? Where are we going?"

French Bordeaux was the golfer's firm suggestion.

"On it! Deal. Simple," Travis responded without hesitation.

The tight end and his fiancée Swift are anticipated to wed this year, though specific arrangements remain private.

McIlroy's Champions Dinner menu featured an impressive array of dishes designed to satisfy all palates, including rock shrimp tempura, grilled elk sliders, yellowfish tuna carpaccio, wagyu filet mignon and sticky toffee pudding.

"I think everyone enjoyed the dinner," the golfer reflected. "I tried to do enough dishes that would please everyone."

Wine selection proved particularly significant for the Holywood native, who has built a collection over the past ten years.

"I'm a big wine guy I collect wine and I have for, like, the last 10 years so the wine selection was something that was pretty important to me," he explained.

The tradition sees each Masters victor host a dinner ahead of the subsequent year's tournament.

McIlroy wed Erica Stoll in 2017, and the couple have a daughter named Poppy, born in August 2020.

The golfer's personal life faced turbulence when he filed for divorce in May 2024, only to withdraw the petition weeks later.

Having secured consecutive Masters titles with his 2026 victory last month, McIlroy will host another Champions Dinner before next year's tournament.

During his winning speech, the 36-year-old paid tribute to his family's unwavering support.

"They have to put up with me at home and, trust me, sometimes that's a tough thing to do," McIlroy said of Erica and Poppy.

"But they have been my biggest supporters."
