By ELIZABETH IVENS and ABUL TAHER Published: 23:33, 20 June 2026 | Updated: 23:33, 20 June 2026 Broadcaster Nicky Campbell has revealed that his daughter was badly injured in a hit-and-run collision with an e-bike. The Long Lost Family presenter, 65, said Lilla was out on Friday night with two of her sisters and a friend in Peckham, south-east London, when the speeding bike hit her at a crossing. She was left bloodied on the ground. The unidentified rider - who was seen cycling erratically before the collision - fled the scene when an ambulance arrived and onlookers gathered. The Mail on Sunday has long campaigned against the scourge of illegal e-bikes. Some can travel at up to 60mph and can be bought without a licence or insurance. Lilla, 26, who works in advertising, was taken to King's College Hospital where she was treated for facial injuries as well as various other wounds. Footage seen by this newspaper shows her lying on a stretcher as paramedics treat her. Her arms and face are covered in blood and she has a bandage around her head. It is understood she lost consciousness on the way to hospital. Describing what had been a 'long and emotional night', Mr Campbell wrote on social media that his family 'were incredibly lucky' as the incident could have been 'so much worse'. He added that Lilla was now recovering at home. Nicky Campbell revealed that his daughter was badly injured in a hit-and-run collision with an e-bike who is yet to be identified rider The unidentified rider - who was seen cycling erratically before the collision - fled the scene when an ambulance arrived and onlookers gathered Mr Campbell, who hosts a phone-in show on BBC Radio 5 Live and has four daughters, told his 181,000 followers on X: 'My daughter Lilla was hit by an e-bike last night in Peckham - hopefully there is CCTV.'  And in a post on his Instagram account, Mr Campbell said: 'Once he saw the ambulance arrive and the crowd gathering - he scarpered. Her sisters Kirsty and Isla were with her.' A source close to the Campbells said the offender was on one of 'those bulky, souped-up illegal bikes' and suggested that might be why they fled. 'He was showing off on the road on the bike before the accident,' they added. 'Lilla's friend saw the cyclist coming, swerving all over the road in a crazy way, at high speed.' As well as receiving facial injuries, Lilla was having difficulty 'moving one side of her body', the source said yesterday, but 'no bones were broken, luckily'. Mr Campbell - who is married to former Virgin Radio journalist Tina Ritchie - also described on X how a man walked into the A&E ward and exposed himself to Lilla, her sisters and their friend. He was later arrested. 'The police were magnificent,' he wrote. 'I spoke to them when I arrived at 3.15am and he is now in custody. 'We all want to say a massive thank you to our amazing police, the wonderful staff at King's College Hospital - nurses and doctors. From the bottom of our hearts. They were all bloody superb.' He accompanied his message with a photo of a banner reading 'Thank You'. Messages of support have flooded his comment sections, many wishing his daughter a speedy recovery and others chiding the scourge of e-bikes. When The Mail on Sunday visited the site of the accident yesterday, dried blood could still be seen on the road, close to the area's bars and restaurants. Ali Hamza, a food delivery rider, said he saw the biker who hit Lilla, describing him as Afro-Caribbean. 'I was shocked to see what happened. I felt really bad,' said Mr Hamza, originally from Pakistan. Scotland Yard did not comment, but an official said that those 'involved didn't receive life-changing or life-threatening injuries'.
