Richard Carapaz to miss Giro d'Italia after surgery on perineal cyst

Last year’s third-place finisher, Richard Carapaz, will miss next month’s Giro d’Italia after suffering complications following surgery on a perineal cyst this month.The Ecuadorian rider, 32, will instead now lead EF Education-EasyPost at the Tour de France in July.“For me, it’s a complete disappointment, because the Giro is a race that I’ve always had a lot of affection for and looked forward to,” Carapaz said in a team statement on Wednesday. “I always want to prepare for it in the best way.
