A former schoolteacher from Berkshire has secured a substantial lottery prize that will see her receive £10,000 every month for an entire year.

The woman from Newbury, who is in her 70s, claimed her windfall through the National Lottery's Set For Life game following the draw held on Monday, March 30, 2026.

Her winning ticket was a Lucky Dip purchase, described as a straightforward, everyday transaction at a local shop.

The prize, totalling £120,000 over twelve months, represents a life-changing sum for the Berkshire resident.

The winner expressed her delight at the unexpected fortune, stating: "This is so unexpected, what a great surprise.

"This win will make life a lot easier."

She has already put some of her monthly payments to good use, booking an overseas holiday as one of her first purchases.

Beyond the trip abroad, the septuagenarian is weighing up potential improvements to her property, with home renovations under consideration.

The prize money offers the retired educator financial flexibility during her retirement years, transforming what began as a routine purchase into a significant windfall that will continue arriving in her bank account throughout the coming year.

Liz Styles, winners' advisor at Allwyn, which operates The National Lottery, offered her congratulations to the fortunate pensioner.

"A quick pop into the local shop for a Lucky Dip and £10,000 a month for a year to follow, we love to see it," she said.

"We hope the holiday abroad is wonderful and that those home renovations are everything she has in mind."

The lottery operator emphasises that ticket purchases contribute to causes beyond individual prizes, with approximately £33 million generated weekly for National Lottery-funded initiatives across Britain.

Since launching, the lottery has raised over £53 billion supporting arts, sport, community organisations and heritage preservation nationwide.
