Puzzled drivers ask for help over mystery road sign

British drivers were puzzled, and force to ask for help after seeing a mystery road sign while driving . Despite learning what almost every road sign means before taking a driving theory test, some signs are harder to decipher than others. Whether you're used to driving on city roads and head to the countryside for a weekend break, or are near the coast for the first time in a while, there are many different signs to warn drivers about the road ahead. Some signs can display different types of animals, or even vehicles in certain situations, depending on where you are in the UK. One learner driver in the UK was left puzzled after spotting a sign they had never seen before while out on the road. The trainee driver posted in the r/LearnerDriverUK Reddit community to try and figure out exactly what it meant. The driver said: "Hi all, I came across this road sign (bottom one) the other day and I'm unsure on what it means. I've tried to look on Google but I haven't found much, unless I'm searching the wrong thing. "I know what the national speed limit sign is, but can anyone tell be what the bottom one means please? Thank you." The user shared a picture of the sign, which was a yellow square with a black outline, with an upward facing black arrow alongside a black square. Other users were quick to tell the learner that they thought the sign was part of a diversion route. One person said: "It is a diversion route for something. (The square helps differentiate it from any other diversions in place)." A second added: "Different shapes different diversion routes. Got 4 different shapes right by my house. The sign is a PlayStation sign in my head lol. Just keep following the sign for your shape." A third explained: "Also, you may find the same shape but not filled in as the reverse diversion route, so there are essentially 8 signs. Square filled or empty, circle filled or empty, triangle filled or empty and finally diamond filled or empty. "Watchout on roundabouts as you may see the same shape, but filled or unfilled relating to the reverse route, and if you follow the opposite you will end up where you started."
