Marrakech – Princess Lalla Hasnaa represented Morocco on Wednesday at the White House in Washington at the inaugural summit of the Global Coalition for Children, titled “Fostering the Future Together.” The summit was held at the invitation of US First Lady Melania Trump.

The initiative aims to improve children’s well-being and promote their empowerment in the digital age through education, innovation, and technology.

The summit opened with a welcome message delivered by a humanoid robot. Melania Trump then addressed the gathering, stressing that in a world being transformed by artificial intelligence, the coalition’s mission is to empower children through technology and education. She called on partner countries and institutions to take concrete steps following the inaugural meeting.

Trump specifically called for organizing regional meetings, collaborating with the private sector, facilitating access to technology for those in need, enacting innovative legislation to protect children, and strengthening cooperation among member states.

In her address, Princess Lalla Hasnaa hailed the “visionary leadership” of the US First Lady for launching the coalition. She said Morocco was honored to participate in an initiative that reflects a shared vision.

“Preparing our children for the digital age is not merely a national duty – it is a shared global responsibility,” Princess Lalla Hasnaa said. “We must act together now, or the gap between those who benefit from technology and those left behind will only widen further.”

The Princess stressed that technology must promote the empowerment of individuals and the reduction of inequalities rather than deepening them.

She announced that Morocco commits, within the coalition’s framework, to expanding and strengthening its existing national digital protection platforms and developing national programs for digital literacy and inclusion. She added that Morocco is fully prepared to share its best practices and experience in digital child protection with partners across the African continent to foster collective learning and strengthen international cooperation.

The summit also featured speeches by France’s Brigitte Macron, Sheikha Alyazia bint Saif Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates, Poland’s Marta Nawrocka, Panama’s Maricel Cohen de Mulino, Sierra Leone’s Dr. Fatima Maada, and Malawi’s Gertrude Mutharika.

At the close of the event, Princess Lalla Hasnaa posed for a photograph with the US First Lady and joined a group photo with heads of delegations. She then attended a reception hosted by Melania Trump at the White House in honor of the invited dignitaries.

The summit brought together representatives from around 40 countries and several leading American technology companies. It served as a platform for presenting national commitments and formally launching cooperation within the coalition.
