Prince Harry gives rare update on King Charles' health after meeting with Meghan, Archie and Lilibet

Prince Harry made an unexpected appearance at the Time100 Sports Gala in New York City on Thursday evening, where he offered a rare update on his father's health.

The Duke of Sussex was heard informing fellow guests that King Charles is "doing great," according to Page Six.

The 77-year-old monarch has been undergoing treatment for cancer since his diagnosis was made public by Buckingham Palace in early 2024.

Last December, the King himself announced encouraging news, revealing that his treatment schedule would be scaled back in the new year thanks to early detection and following medical advice.

Harry is also understood to have shared news about his wife and children during conversations at the prestigious sporting event.

The duke revealed that Meghan Markle and their two youngsters, seven-year-old Prince Archie and five-year-old Princess Lilibet, are "happy" to be back at their Montecito residence following their brief trip across the Atlantic.

"The kids are growing like weeds," Harry told a fellow guest, according to the outlet.

During the gala, Harry took to the stage to address attendees about the Invictus Games, the multi-sport competition for wounded military veterans that he established in 2014.

"Sport isn't just entertainment and competition. Sport is medicine," he declared.

He added: "Around Invictus, we call it 'service after service' because our service to others never ends."

He reflected on sport's lasting impact, noting: "And in the end, that is the ultimate power of sport. It brings us back to ourselves. And long after the medals are won and the records are broken and the crowds have gone home, what remains isn't the scoreboard. It's the person sport helped us become."

Earlier on the red carpet, Harry spoke to Page Six about England's 2-1 defeat to Argentina in the World Cup semi-finals, confirming he was "of course" disappointed by the result.

The outing marked Harry's first public appearance since the Sussexes gathered with the King and Queen Camilla at Highgrove House on July 10, marking a significant private reunion.

The Palace confirmed the meeting took place but declined to release photographs or further details, describing it as a "private family meeting."

It represented the first occasion the King had spent time with his grandchildren since 2022, a gap of four years.

Harry initially travelled to Britain alone, having been refused taxpayer-funded security arrangements.

Meghan and the children subsequently joined him but made no public appearances during their stay.

The duke, who stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and relocated his family to California, remains on difficult terms with Prince William.
