He also hailed Washington's relationship with New Delhi, saying that it will only grow stronger. The American embassy in India shared Trump's message on its X handle: "Our amazing relationship with India will be even stronger going forward. Prime Minister Modi and I are two people that get things done, something that cannot be said for most. - President Donald J. Trump." Last week, PM Modi and Trump held the first phone call since the beginning of the US-Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28, which triggered a wider regional conflict. PM Modi said that Trump called him to discuss the situation in the Gulf region amid growing concerns over food and energy security. Meanwhile, in an interview with Span Magazine, Gor appreciated the Indian people's friendliness, saying that it has not faded one bit since his first visit to the nation almost 15 years ago. "That friendliness also extends to the highest level of leadership between the United States and India. President Trump considers Prime Minister Modi a true friend, and their genuine relationship strengthens the already important bond between our two nations. The ability to deepen our ties and work towards mutually beneficial goals is a great privilege," he told the media outlet. The ambassador said that India is a major defense partner for the US, adding that the defense cooperation is one of the "brightest spots" in the countries' bilateral ties. He said the two sides also strengthen their "military interoperability through participation in military exercises such as Malabar, Tiger Triumph, and Cope India." Sergio Gor said the US-India relationship is "rooted in shared democratic values, mutual prosperity, and common security interests that will shape the global order for generations."
