Police Open Investigation into Death of Officer in Settat Apartment

Tantan – Authorities in Settat have launched a judicial investigation into the death of a police officer found inside a rented apartment on Friday evening.

According to a security source, the provincial judicial police opened the inquiry under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor. The investigation aims to determine the circumstances surrounding the officer’s death and whether any criminal act was involved.

Initial information indicates that the officer, who was off duty at the time, was found dead inside the apartment after a young woman who was with him at the time made a report. 

Police who arrived at the scene noted signs of physical injury on the body, though the exact nature and cause of these injuries remain unclear.

As part of the ongoing investigation, police placed the woman, aged 20, in custody. Authorities are seeking to clarify the nature of her relationship with the deceased and her potential connection to the incident.

The officer’s body has been transferred to the hospital for a forensic autopsy. This procedure will help determine the exact cause of death and whether it resulted from natural causes, an accident, or a criminal act.

The investigation is still ongoing, and officials say further details will be released once more information becomes available.
