Police called to pupil fight involving knife at Welsh primary school

An investigation is underway following a fight involving a knife between two pupils at a Welsh primary school . Police attended Sandfields Primary School in Port Talbot on Wednesday afternoon following an "altercation" between two boys. A relative of one of the pupils has claimed a knife was involved in the incident. They claimed one of the boys was left with cuts to his hands. The school is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, while South Wales Police has said its own inquiry is "ongoing". A spokesman for the force said: "Officers were called to Sandfields Primary School, Neath Port Talbot at 1.20pm on Wednesday, June 3, following a report of a playground altercation between two 10-year-old pupils. "An investigation into this incident is ongoing. The youth engagement officer is liaising with parents and the school as part of this investigation." A spokesman for Neath Port Talbot Council said: “An altercation involving two pupils took place in the playground of Sandfields Primary School (Wednesday, June 3). “The school is managing the situation in line with its safeguarding and behaviour procedures.
