A plane has crashed into a hangar causing a fire at an Australian airport. The small plane collision took place at Parafield Airport in Adelaide's north just after 2pm on Wednesday, April 29. Police and emergency services were called at 2.10pm to the area near Kings Road after reports that the aircraft had crashed when trying to land, according to the force. The area has been evacuated as the emergency services deal with the incident. There is no confirmation regarding how many people were onboard or in the building. Thick black smoke can be seen in the area and locals are urged to stay indoors and shut all windows and doors. Ben, a radio listener who was near the airport said: "It looks like a large fire in an aeroplane hangar. I've seen multiple fire trucks going through — this is probably the fifth one now, and multiple emergency services heading out there. "It's pretty big." "You could see the gable in the front doors of the hangar billowing out black smoke, just coming out. Couldn't see flames but it was quite large — you could see some sort of fuel," he added. An airport spokesperson confirmed the incident in a statement, according to local media. "Parafield Airport has been closed to all air traffic," the statement said. "We will provide full support to the emergency services in their response to this incident."
