Published: 03:12, 2 July 2026 | Updated: 03:24, 2 July 2026 A heavily pregnant Tacoma woman was forced to deliver her baby early after a horrific dog attack left her fighting serious infections and fearing her unborn child would not survive. Renee Wilson, 34, was rushed to the hospital to give birth after she was savagely mauled by two loose dogs, a Pitbull Terrier and a American Bully, at around 12.30pm on her due date, June 25, in Tacoma, Washington.  Wilson – a single mother of now four – told the Daily Mail the ordeal left her 'mentally traumatized as well as physically scarred.'  'That's it this is how I'm going to die' She recalled thinking, 'These dogs will tear me to shreds'.  Wilson had just left her apartment complex with her Chihuahua in tow to install a car seat in preparation for the birth. She was not in active labor at the time. She suddenly saw two vicious-looking dogs running toward her from a nearby alleyway.  The hounds had no collars or leashes on, which is illegal according to Tacoma city law. They were also not accompanied by an owner at the time, having allegedly escaped from a nearby property. Wilson said she had encountered these animals before when walking her dog, and explained that she knew the dogs didn't take well to her own. She stood in front of her dog in order to 'protect him from being attacked,' shaking her keys at them and speaking in sharp tones in a frantic attempt to ward them away. Mother of four Renee Wilson was forced to deliver her baby early after she was brutally attacked by a Pitbull and a bully on June 25. CCTV footage caught the moment Wilson's maternal instincts kicked in, as she placed herself as a barrier between the Pitbull and Bully and her own dog The dogs relentlessly launched at the woman, gnawing at her thighs, ankles and belly, dragging her across the parking lot by her hair  However, in doing so, she endangered herself and her unborn child, as the dogs proceeded to then launch themselves at Wilson, ferociously charging her to the ground.   Her voice trembling, Wilson described how the dogs got a hold of her body and were tugging in different directions at her head, ankles and thighs as she desperately tried to shield herself and her belly from the dogs. 'I was thinking, Oh my God, my baby,' Wilson recollected the moment she screamed for help. However, at that point, no one in the nearby proximity had seen the attack. Wilson lay on the ground wrestling for her life as the dogs dragged her by her hair. Wilson's panic reached a breaking point. She watched in terror as one of the dogs then clamped it's jaws down on her pregnant belly. Witnesses eventually spotted the woman writhing in pain and rushed to her aid, as neighbor David Smith used a broom to fend off one of the dogs. Another bystander who was to terrified to get involved, called 911 and sent her boyfriend over to assist. The woman's boyfriend was able to pry the dog's teeth off Wilson before Smith used his vest to wrap the pregnant mother's wounds and applied pressure until paramedics arrived on the scene. Wilson says although she lost track of time, she kept replaying the gruesome sight, 'the stuff inside my legs and just the smell of it and the never ending blood seeping out'. Once Wilson was hospitalized the doctors insisted on inducing the mother's birth, concerned by the potential infection of the puncture marks that covered her belly Her baby was safely delivered at 6am the following day, however Wilson has been left fighting serious highly contagious infections including Cellulitis and MRSA Upon the arrival of emergency crews, one of the dogs owners had emerged, repeating apologies. She grabbed her dog, who was still on the scene and hurried away. Wilson was rapidly transported to the hospital where she received stitches for the large gash on her leg, and multiple X-Rays, before doctor's decided to induce her due to the puncture wounds on her abdomen leaving her at risk of developing life-threatening infections. Her baby boy, Armani Ross, was delivered safely and healthy at 6am the following day, but Wilson remains hospitalized, battling multiple infections including Cellulitis and MRSA. The mother is also undergoing strenuous physical therapy as the attack left her unable to move her right leg properly. 'I could have lost my life and so could have my son,' she said. 'I have three other children that need me.' She revealed the experience has impacted many areas of her life. Despite the baby's safe arrival she is no longer able to breastfeed, an experience she says she was 'really looking forward to as one to bring her closer to her child'. Animal Control impounded the dogs soon after the attack and reported that the owners were cooperating with the investigation. Standard procedure requires the dogs to undergo a 10-day quarantine, followed by a Dangerous Dog Investigation.  The owners currently face charges and citations, including a leash law violation, dogs jumping or threatening pedestrians, and an animal injuring a human. The infractions total as much as $2,052. Wilson remains unable to use her right leg, making her reliant on a wheelchair to get around Wilson shared the worry that plagued her : what would have happened if it had been one of her young children who had been waiting by the car instead of her. Pictured: Ryder, 6, Rain ,11, and Autumn,7 Enduring the painful experience and the aftermath has been nothing less then 'traumatic' for the mother and the ordeal has made her desperately want to relocate, as she says she 'wants something safer for her and her children' A family has set up a GoFundMe to take care of Wilson and her children during her recovery process as a single mother Authorities have since announced they will seek humane euthanasia because of the severity of the injuries Wilson suffered. The dogs owners have the right to appeal the dangerous dog designation before any final decision is determined, but that will mean entering into court, which Wilson, focused on her recovery process, states she wants to avoid for the time being. Wilson's family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover mounting medical bills as she continues what is expected to be a lengthy recovery while caring for her newborn and three other children as a single mother.  No comments have so far been submitted.
