Person is rushed to hospital after jet ski and inflatable carrying children collide off the coast of Hampshire

Published: 01:09, 6 July 2026 | Updated: 01:10, 6 July 2026 A person has been hospitalised after a jet ski rider ploughed into an inflatable carrying two children off the coast of Hampshire. Emergency services rushed to the scene near Calshot Activity Centre at around 6pm yesterday. An adult was seriously injured and taken to hospital while the rider of the jet ski was unharmed. Two children onboard the inflatable were brought 'safely ashore'.  HM Coastguard confirmed a large response to the incident including lifeboats, the Coastguard Rescue Team, police cars and ambulances. Access points were closed from the far right of the car park down to the activity centre car park. Hampshire Constabulary asked members of the public to avoid the area following what was described as a 'concern for welfare incident'. The force added: 'We and our emergency service partners are currently responding to and dealing with a concern for welfare incident at Calshot Beach. An adult was seriously injured and taken to hospital while the rider of the jet ski was unharmed. 'Thank you for your patience and understanding while we respond to this incident.' Police later confirmed the entrance to the activities centre had reopened.
