People targeting wildlife at Welsh beauty spot

Police have stepped up patrols at a popular Welsh beauty spot after increased reports of antisocial behaviour. Officers said there had been a number of "concerning" calls at Garn Lakes in Blaenavon. Officers were at the site of Sunday, May 24, after receiving reports of youths "harming wildlife in the evenings" with patrols said to be continuing. In response police have also "kindly" asked parents and guardians to have a conversation with their children about the impact of this behaviour, particularly around carrying items that could be used to cause harm. A further reminder was issued to visitors stating: "Fishing is only permitted with a valid permit; swimming in the lake is not permitted; and dogs must be kept on a lead at all times."
